Solčava

SIGHT NO. 1

Start the tour in the village of Solčava, where you can visit the Curch of St. Mary of the Snows and the Rinka Centre, a multi-purpose centre where visitors can get tourist information, see an exhibition on the region, and buy local produce like cured meat, dairy products, tea, and woolen products.

Panoramic views

After cycling uphill for a few kilometres, you find yourself in the embrace of mountains that surround you.

Mineral water spring

SIGHT NO. 3

Try the unusual taste of the water rich in carbon dioxide and iron (the reason why the rocks around the spring are coloured red).

Church of the Holy Spirit

SIGHT NO. 4

The Church of the Holy Spirit in the village of Podolševa offers incredible views over the Kamnik-Savinja Alps.

It is also a great starting point for hikers wishing to visit the Potočka zijalka Cave or go even higher, to Mt. Olševa.

Potočka zijalka Cave

SIGHT NO. 5

Follow the Bear Trail and reach the Potočka zijalka archaeological site after about an hour.

In the cave, skeletons of cave bears were discovered, as well as the world's oldest bone sewing needle (along with other tools) from Cro-Magnon hunters, who used the cave as their ritual site.

Mt. Olševa

Hike to the top of Mt. Olševa (Govca), a mountain ridge in the Karavanke Mountain Range, with views also reaching into Austria.
