THE EMERALD SOČA REGION
TOUR DESCRIPTION
THE EMERALD SOČA REGION
The Soča Region is known for its Alpine mountain peaks (with the highest Slovenian mountain, Mt. Triglav), deep valleys and gorges, dense forests, mountain pastures and meadows, and most importantly, rivers of crystal clear emerald water.
The diversity of the valleys in the area is reflected in the amount of various things you can see and do.
The towns of Bovec, Kobarid, and Tolmin are known as Slovenia's outdoor activity centres, where you can go white-water rafting, kayaking, canyoning, paragliding, mountain biking, hiking, and much more.
There are also plenty of historical sights and museums connected to World War I in the area, when soldiers were fighting in the mountains surrounding the valleys.
While cycling the 20-kilometre circular route around the Soča and the Lepena valleys, you can go for a quick dip or dive in the cold, emerald-coloured rivers, have a picnic on one of many green meadows, or also go for a hike in the Alps.
